Awbeg Macra’s Senior debating team of Niall O’Regan, Niamh Curran, Breda O’Keeffe and Kate O’Regan have earned their place in the National Final of Senior Debating. In the semi-final they overcame Carrigaline Macra by convincing the judges that the motion "That Banning Grid Girls from Sports Such as Formula1 Progresses Equality for Women” should fall. For the National Final on this Saturday, 10th March, they are travelling to Dundalk in Co. Louth. There they will oppose Bree Macra’s motion “That Ireland takes its commitment to the environment seriously”.
Awbeg Macra had a successful night at the Avondhu round of the National Talent Competition (NTC). Their set-dancing team of Chris Buckley, Clíona Galwey, Emma McCarthy and Niamh O’Gorman, their ballad group of Chris Buckley, Clíona Galwey, Ciara Howard, Shannon Murphy and Niamh O’Gorman and their comedy group of Adrian Curtin, Breda Forrest and Séan O’Callaghan all progressed through to the next round which will be hosted by the Imokilly region on Friday, 30th March 2018.
Storm Emma’s Red Alert meant that Awbeg Macra’s club fundraiser "The Stag of Avondhu" had to be put on ice. The rescheduled date for the event is Friday, 23rd March the Castle Arms in Castletownroche.
Awbeg Macra member Adrian Curtin was recently co-opted onto the National Steering Committee of the Macra na Feirme Skillsnet Programme, while Awbeg’s Breda Forrest has been nominated by Avondhu Macra to represent the region on Macra na Feirme’s National Council.
There’s a lot in store over the coming weeks. On Saturday, 10 March Awbeg Macra will be travelling to Dundalk to support their team in the National Senior Debating Final. Awbeg Macra will be attending the Mallow Macra Fundraiser on March 16th. The 23rd March is the new date for the club fundraiser, the Stag of Avondhu. Awbeg will be attending the Cork County Macra round of Drama on the 24th and 25th March in Castlemagner. Awbeg Macra will be competing in the Avondhu round of Volleyball on the 25th March. Awbeg will also be competing in several of the competitions in the Cork County round of the National Talent Competition (NTC).

Buttevant, Churchtown, Doneraile, Killavullen and is open to absolutely everyone aged 17 to 35 who is looking to meet new people and have fun.
