The Macra na Feirme Senior Debating All Ireland title is heading to Bree Macra for the first time in 33 years after the Wexford club defeated Donoughmore Macra, Cork opposing the motion that ‘Macra na Feirme is as relevant today as it was in 1944.’
The final took place last Saturday night at the Mallow GAA Complex, Co.Cork in front of a packed house. Tom Carroll of Donoughmore Macra won Best Speaker on the night.
Speaking afterwards Macra na Feirme National President James Healy said, ‘This debating final was of the highest quality and was an excellent showcase of the debating skills for which Macra is famous. Congratulations to Bree Macra for their big win and a special word of thanks to our judges, presiding officer, time keeper and everyone who travelled to support the teams.’
