Meath Macra Live Crib Returns to Enfield
While most people will spend Christmas Eve doing last minute shopping or spending time with family, the members of Meath Macra na Feirme will brave the elements when they take to the streets of Enfield to fundraise for charity. The Meath Macra Live Crib will return to Enfield on 24th December for it's fourth year to raise money and awareness for the Irish Cancer Society. The live crib was a massive success last year with over €4000 being raised for Meath Alzheimers Society and SOSAD thanks to the hard work and dedication of Meath Macra members and parishioners. To date, over €10,000 has been raised by the event for various charities.
The Live Crib will run from 11am to 5pm on Christmas Eve outside Enfield's Community Hall. Throughout the day, there will be refreshments, face-painting, Christmas carol singing, and music from Enfield Comhaltas at 2pm, as well as the main attraction, the live animals. On top of that, there will be nativity characters present. Macra members will be out on the streets of Enfield all day collecting money.
Over the past few years, the live crib has grown in popularity among all age groups. The animals, in particular the pygmy goat and donkeys, have made their way into the heart of the community. This Christmas Eve, Meath Macra are hoping to exceed last years grand total and invite all to come along to support Meath Macra na Feirme and The Irish Cancer Society. If you are unable to make it to the Live Crib on the day and would still like to donate, it is possible to do so by visiting the 'Meath Macra Live Crib' Just Giving page .
Carrigaline New Year's Eve Ball
Carrigaline Macra in association with kind sponsors Michael Pigott - Auctioneer and Valuer and Walsh & Partners Solicitors are proud to present their annual New Years Eve ball once again for the enjoyment of Macra members and the general public. This year it is once again taking place in the fabulous Rochestown Park Hotel. Planning for this event is ongoing all year so a lot of thought and time has been put in to it. The demand for tickets will be high with hundreds regularly in attendance. It is also a chance to meet Macra members from further afield and non-macra people entirely. People have been known to travel from Cavan to attend this event alone!
On arrival, guests will be treated to a drinks reception, cocktail bar, followed by a delicious five course meal, entertainment by the band Renovator and DJ Peter Bowles until late. The hotel and event room will be decked out in style and everyone is guaranteed to dance, jig and sing in the new year.
As well as this a special room rate has been arranged for those in attendance which is €130 for a double/twin room B&B. Breakfast on the first day of the new year will be served up to 11am to accommodate late partygoers! The night will bring to a finish what has so far been another successful year for the club, with many highlights including wins in debating, GAA, public speaking, drama, as well as many opportunities to travel within Ireland and abroad.

On Sunday December 2nd the Aghinagh Macra Club had both a Ladies and Men’s team competing in the All-Ireland Soccer Competition in Dublin. The Ladies team defeated Callan of Kilkenny and then lost to Mitchelstown of Cork, but managed to top their group on goal difference. In the semi-final the ladies managed to pull off a great victory over Athboy of Meath. In a highly competitive final, it was to be Mitchelstown who would defeat the Aghinagh ladies by two goals to one. The club is extremely proud of the team finishing as National Dairy Council National Final runner-up.
