Kerryman Crowned Mr Personality for 2019

Mr. Personality Festival took place in Kilkenny at the weekend. The festival was hosted by Kilkenny Macra and was sponsored by Kilkenny Carlow and District Farm Relief Services. 27 contestants from all over Ireland travelled to Kilkenny for a fun filled weekend where they were interviewed on stage, completed challenges and were interviewed by the three judges – Carmel Brennan, Siobhan Woods and John Bergin.

Speaking on behalf of the judges Carmel Brennan said that there was a very high standard of entrants and they had represented their club and county well and wished the winners well. The result was announced at 12 midnight on Saturday night with John Martin Carroll from Kerry becoming the 14th Mr. Personality.

In second place was Conor Ryan from North Tipperary and third was Ciaran O Donnell from Roscommon. John Martin was presented with €500 cheque, a perpetual trophy and a weekend break in Springhill Court Hotel. Conor received a trophy and a cheque for €300 and Ciaran received a trophy and €200.

Mr. Personality 2019 John Martin (32) is from Causeway Macra club and is the owner of JMC Designs. His hobbies and interests include Taekwondo, keeping fit and raising money for charities. Conor Ryan (29) from North Tipperary came second and is a secondary school teacher and Ciaran O’Donnell (19) from Roscommon who came third is a full-time student.

 

Fethard Macra Crowned National Dairy Council All Ireland Champions 2019

Congratulations to Fethard Macra na Feirme from South Tipperary on winning the 2019 National Dairy Council Volleyball title, defeating Kilkenny's Callan Macra in a closely contested final

 

Kilkenny Macra Hurling and Camogie Competition

Congratulations to all who participated in the annual Kilkenny Macra Hurling and Camogie Competition which took place on Saturday 13th April in St. Kieran’s College. Well done to Devilsbit Macra and Callan Macra, winners of the hurling and camogie competitions respectively.

 

Nano Nagle Cork Drama Event

‘A Path Through the Dark – The Story of Nano Nagle’ is a new and original drama formed by the creative minds of Oceans of Notions Theatre group in conjunction with the Presentation Sisters and Nano Nagle Place. It is a 1 woman, 1-hour show telling the story of Nano Nagle, accompanied by an original composition of 18th century music and live vocals performed by Annette Buckley.

We would love for members of Macra na Feirme to attend our show which will take place in our beautiful Goldie Chapel during the Easter Holidays.

We will have matinee shows on: Tuesday 23rd April, Wednesday 24th April and Saturday 27th April (all at 2pm)

Our evening performances take place on: Thursday 25th April, Friday 26th April, Saturday 27th April (all at 7pm)

It is our strong belief that the story of Nano and the Presentation Sisters is one all Cork people should know.

Macra Training Workshop

Training for Macra members for Proposal 2 will take place on Sat Apr 27th from 10-1.30pm in LEADER building in Roscommon Town.

The training is free of charge to Macra members who can then go on and use their skills to deliver the training and earn funds for their club/county.

Three Lakes Macra Table Quiz

Three Lakes Macra na Feirme are holding a Table Quiz on Friday 26th April at 9.30pm in the Western Hotel, Claremorris. All proceeds to Dublin2Mayo Charity Tractor Run. Table of 4 is only €40 with great prizes to be won! All Welcome!

 

RTE Weather Live

Weather Live is an entertainment/factual show on RTÉ One exploring Ireland's favourite obsession - the weather! The series will be broadcast live from the National Botanic Gardens in Glasnevin, Dublin 9 between 7pm and 8pm immediately after the RTÉ 6 o clock news.

We are looking for people to attend our recordings as part of our studio audience but are hoping to target the right people and those in the local area. We had a great turnout from Macra on Season 1 so we want to extend the invite to attend Season 2's recordings!

Recording Dates are Tuesday 30th April, Wednesday 1st May and Thursday 2nd May.

Presenter Kathryn Thomas will be joined each night by a host of live studio guests. There will be discussions on climate change, science demonstrations and experiments with Phil Smith and celebrity guest appearances.
