Applications are now invited for the 2019 Irish Nuffield Scholarship programme.

Scholarships consist of a bursary of €14,000 as a contribution to travel and accommodation costs for this international agricultural leadership development programme. This will involve at least 10 weeks travel, of which 6 weeks will be in a Global Agricultural Focus Programme. Applicants should be 25-45 years with at least 5 years’ experience in farming or business.

A number of scholarships may be awarded.

Applicants are invited from all sectors of agriculture, food and rural related business.

There may be a scholarship for a member or an employee of an Agricultural Co-operative to study a topic relevant to co-operatives.

Free Smarter Milking Events throughout the country

FRS Training, Teagasc and  AHI (Animal Health Ireland) have teamed up with four of the leading dairy co-ops around the country, Glanbia, Kerry Agribusiness, Aurivo and Lakeland Dairies, to bring dairy farmers practical demonstrations on how to achieve smarter  milking and become more efficient and cost effective.

The free smarter milking events are open to all farmers and farm workers alike and will run through June and July in counties Waterford, Kerry, Galway and Meath starting at 11am.. The events will cover the areas of better cow flow, best practice milking technique, standard operating procedures, producing high milk quality and how to be more cost effective.
