Callan Macra, men’s team from Kilkenny are the 2018/19 NDC Macra na Feirme All Ireland Indoor Soccer Champions after they defeated Devil’s Bit from Tipperary in the final at the Soccer Dome in Santry, Dublin on Sunday. In the ladies final Mitchelstown Macra from Avondhu, Cork took the spoils, defeating Aghinagh Macra, Muskerry, Cork. 30 Macra teams took part in the two competitions.
Speaking afterwards Macra na Feirme National President James Healy, said, ‘Well done to all the teams who took park in our NDC Soccer All-Ireland Finals. This is another fantastic competition that shows the enthusiasm and skill of our Macra members and we are very grateful to the NDC our partners in health and well-being for their continued support of this competition.’
Macra na Feirme also held the National Finals of it Triace Public and Impromptu Speaking Finals last weekend. It was a night of double celebration for Freemount Macra, Avondhu as they won the Triace Team Public Speaking and Noirin Stritch of Freemount was announced as Best Speaker on the night. Sandy Gallagher of Athboy Macra, Meath won the Triace Impromptu Public Speaking title, edging out Helena Reynolds, Termonfeckin Macra, Louth.
Macra National President James Healy congratulated all the competitors for their great efforts on the night and thanked Triace for their continued support of Macra’s Public Speaking competitions adding that these competitions ‘play a major role in building confidence’.
