Sustainabilty in a Challenging World: Macra National Conference Saturday October 27th

Post on: Sat, 27, October 2018

The EU Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development Phil Hogan will join RTE presenter Damien O’Reilly for a one-to-one discussion about Brexit and CAP 2020 at the Macra na Feirme Annual Conference in LIT, Thurles, Tipperary on Saturday October 27th at 2pm.

The theme of this year’s annual conference is ‘Sustainability in a Challenging World’. Following on from the opening discussion there will be two moderated discussions. Our first panel will be moderated by Jack Kennedy of the Irish Farmers Journal and will discuss ‘Market Sustainability for Young Farmers in Post Brexit Ireland’. Our second panel will be moderated by Claire McCormack of Agriland and will talk about the importance of enjoying a healthy work/balance in agriculture.

Macra na Feirme National President James Healy said, ‘‘Macra na Feirme is looking forward to welcoming Commissioner Hogan and all our guests to Tipperary for this year’s Annual Conference. Having a sustainable agriculture sector will be key to attracting young people in to farming. Brexit and CAP2020 are two immediate threats to that sustainability but it is essential that those in agriculture remember the importance of a healthy work-life balance for themselves and those they employ. I hope everyone attending on the day will find the discussions informative.’’
