Macra Presidential Elections 2023

Macra are happy to announce that at the close of nominations at 5pm on 01 March 2023, we have received one nomination for the role of Macra President for the term 2023-2025. As there is one candidate for Macra President, there will be no Macra Presidential election in 2023.

The one nominee that we received is Ms Elaine Houlihan, Elaine is from Athlacca, Co. Limerick with her home club being Kilmallock Macra. Elaine, who is a physiotherapist, comes from a beef enterprise and family run agricultural engineering business. Elaine is the current Munster Vice-President within Macra and she will be declared as President elect on the 5th April 2023.

“I am excited to lead one of the most vibrant rural organisations in Ireland. I am looking forward to building on the work I have done over the past two years and continuing the work that has been previously done within our organisation,” said Elaine. Elaine will be taking over as our 39th president from John Keane on 13 May 2023 at our AGM.

Macra President John Keane said “ I am delighted to be handing over to Elaine in May, she was an exceptionally effective Vice President for the last two years, I have no doubt that she will continue on the good work that has started.”
