Membership FAQS

What if the prefix on my membership number is showing ‘P’ (for Patron) and I am a Member and should have the prefix ‘M’ showing?
First, and most important, your membership is in place, and you are a fully paid up member of Macra. The membership number you have may be used for your benefits including your insurance discount.

We are working with our membership system service providers to correct this error and hope to have it resolved in the coming days. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

What do I do if I wish to change club?
You have a few options here:

  1. Your local Training and Development Officer (TDO) can arrange this for you by contacting them with your name and date of birth/mobile number. By clicking on your existing clubs flag on the map in this link you will receive the name and contact details of your TDO https://macra.ie/pages/clubs
  2.  This is a straight forward issue which will just take a few days to correct. Contact Lorraine at lmcdermott@macra.ie.

I have a query regarding my membership payment, such as I paid twice or I feel I paid too much?
Your point of contact here is Lorraine at lmcdermott@macra.ie. Please send include on a short email to her your membership number(s) as well as your date of birth and mobile number.

She will respond to you by email on what action he has taken or may seek additional information from you. Please note refunds take 5/7 working days to reach your bank account.

I paid by direct debit and still haven’t received my membership number including a text message and email?
Direct debit payments are running late from our Fintech provider (Stripe) to our bank account. This is happening even after your payment has left your bank. It could take anything between 5 and 10 days.

Until your payment is verified in our system the various communications will not issue to you. If you wish to advise us of this, including if your car insurance is due in the meantime please email Lorraine at lmcdermott@macra.ie and she will seek to resolve the matter for you.

We have recently held our club or county AGM and we need to update the system to reflect the officers elected, how do we do this?
Your local Training and Development Officer will do this for you, remember you need to be a member of Macra to hold any club or county leadership positions.

Please note, Patron members cannot hold such positions.

How do I join Macra?

What time period does my membership run for?
It is valid for one year from your date of joining or the date you renew your existing membership.

Please email us with the name of the college you are studying in, your course, your student number and how many years you have left to study. Your contact is lmcdermott@macra.ie

I wish to cancel my membership and direct debit?
As with any service provider we need reasonable notice to effect this change, we are asking that you advise us 10 days in advance of any change you wish to make.

Where you membership has been paid, it will run for one year from the date of renewal. We will not be making refunds except where we have received adequate notice.

What if I don’t renew my membership and am still taking part in club, and other activities?

As a membership organisation it is important that each person pays their fees.

Very importantly if you do not pay your membership fee you are not insured. Also you will not be able to participate in any Macra competitions or avail of our any Macra member pricing of services and events.
